How many m3 of sand for 1 m3 of concrete?
About 0.4 m3 of sand per 1 m3 of B25 concrete. For a 100 m2 x 15 cm slab = 15 m3 concrete, you need ~6 m3 sand.
Quarry sand or dune sand?
Quarry sand (crushed, angular) is preferred for concrete and masonry. Dune sand (fine, round) is suitable for plaster and mortar. Never use sea sand (salt = rebar corrosion).
How to check sand quality?
Clean sand leaves no mud trace when rubbed in your hand. Jar test: mix sand + water, let sit 24h. If the clay layer exceeds 5% of the height, the sand is unsuitable.
Is beach sand theft illegal?
Yes. Extracting sand from beaches or coastal dunes without authorization is prohibited (law 27-13 on quarries) and punishable by fines and prison, with heavier penalties on the maritime public domain. Only buy from authorized quarries.
What volume of sand fits in a truck?
A standard dump truck (6 wheels) carries 8-10 m3 of sand. A semi-trailer carries 15-20 m3. Always verify the actual volume at delivery.
