Single flow: extractor + air inlets in dry rooms. Cheap (1.8-6.5k MAD). Downside: heat/cool loss (outside air enters raw). Double flow: recovers 75-90% heat from stale air. 4-7× pricier (12-22k), complex install, but 25-35% AC/heat savings + filtered air. ROI 5-8 yrs modern villa.

Mandatory in Morocco?

Yes for new residential construction since RTCM 2014 (Moroccan Thermal Regulation). Housing >50m² must ensure NM 13.1.001-compliant air renewal. Plan review (architects), non-compliance often blocks occupancy permit (final Rokhas).

What airflow for my home?

NM 13.1.001 (≈NF DTU 68.3): T2 (90/45 m³/h peak/base), T3 (105/45), T4 (120/45), T5 (135/45), T6 (165/45). Peak = 30min kitchen/bath use. T6 family 6: min 165 m³/h. Oversize +20% humid climate or open kitchen.

VMC or windows?

Window opening: insufficient in winter (massive heat loss) and summer in city (heat+noise+pollution). Unpredictable. VMC: continuous controlled airflow, guaranteed, occupant-independent. Wet rooms (bath, kitchen) NEVER enough with window alone: condensation, mold, wall damage. VMC mandatory in windowless bath.

Maintenance?

Extraction grilles: clean every 6 months (kitchen grease, dust). Unit: vacuum/dust turbine 1×/yr. Double-flow filters: change every 6-12 months (HEPA 6mo, standard 12mo). Ducts: visual 1×/3yr, pro cleaning 1×/5-10yr. Annual pro service: 350-750 MAD single, 700-1,500 double.
