Prestressed concrete beams are the main structural element of hourdis floor systems used in 80% of Moroccan residential construction.
Concrete beam (joist) prices in Morocco (May 2026) range from 35 to 800 DH/ml depending on type, quality and region. This range covers 7 documented product variants. Prices updated monthly from verified suppliers.
Compare price ranges by packaging unit (bag, m², m³, lm, kit).
Beam length = free span + 20cm (10cm bearing each side). For 4.80m living room, use 5m beams. Standard spacing: 60cm. Spans >5.80m require structural engineer.
Standard Morocco: 12cm beam + 16cm hourdis + 5cm topping = 21cm total. Span up to 4.80m. Large spans (5-6m): 16+20+5 = 25cm.
60cm spacing: 50 m² = ~83 lm of beams. For 5×10m room: 17 beams of 5m. Add 5% waste. Material cost: ~5,000-7,000 MAD.
Polystyrene: 2× lighter, 30% faster install, better insulation (R=1.5). More expensive (35-55 vs 18-32 MAD/u). Concrete: cheap, heavy, poor insulation — default in Morocco.
Beams ≤4m: standard flatbed, manual unloading possible (heavy, 2-3 people). Beams ≥5m: crane truck required (+400-800 MAD). Need clear 6m maneuver radius.
