Plasterboard BA13 is the standard gypsum board for partitions and false ceilings in Morocco. Local production (Lafarge Plâtres) + imports (Knauf, Siniat). Color-coded families: white (standard dry), green (water-resistant), pink (fire-resistant), blue (acoustic). BA13 = 13 mm, BA18 = 18 mm reinforced. Standard: 1.20 × 2.50 m = 3 m².
Dry rooms: BA13 standard white. Bathroom, kitchen: water-resistant green MANDATORY. WC, laundry: also green. Open kitchen near heat: combined green+pink. Stairwell, parking: pink fire-resistant. Acoustic separation: blue BA18. Modern villa mix: 60% white + 30% green + 10% pink.
1) Laser-mark floor + ceiling. 2) Fix top/bottom rails (concrete anchor floor, mechanical ceiling). 3) Vertical studs 60 cm O.C. 4) Screw first face plate (25-30 cm spacing). 5) Pass electrical/plumbing in core. 6) Insert 45 mm rock wool min (+20 dB acoustic). 7) Screw second face. 8) Tape joints (3 passes). 9) Sand and paint.
12 m² wall (2 faces): 24 m² + 10% waste = 27 m². At 50 MAD/m² standard: 1,350 board + 430 studs + 160 rails + 720 rock wool 5 cm + 250 fixings = ~2,900 materials. Install: 3,360. Total finished: ~6,300 MAD = 525 MAD/m² installed.
Plasterboard: 5× faster to erect (1 day vs 5 for 20 m²), lighter, superior acoustic insulation (with rock wool), easy duct passage. Less impact-resistant, can't hang heavy loads. Block: robust, hangs anything, but slow, heavy, no inherent acoustic. Distribution: plasterboard. Load-bearing: block.
Hole <5 cm: fill with ready-mix filler (Toupret, Sika) + spatula + sand + paint. 5-15 cm: 1) Cut clean rectangle. 2) Insert wood backing (screw board). 3) Cut placo patch. 4) Screw + tape joint + filler + sand + paint. >15 cm: redo entire section between studs. Pro repair: 300-800 MAD.
