Crushed vs river sand?
River sand: rounded grains, ideal traditional masonry — but extraction restricted since 2023. Crushed: angular grains, better concrete cohesion, now standard for structural concrete.
Good for plaster?
Yes, choose 0/2mm plaster-grade (washed, low fines). For finish coats, mix 50/50 with fine quarry sand if river unavailable.
Sand per m³ of concrete?
Standard concrete (350 kg cement/m³): ~0.4 m³ sand + 0.8 m³ gravel + 7 bags 50kg cement + 175L water. Per 100 m³ concrete: 40 m³ sand.
How to check quality?
Visual: no clay lumps, uniform color. Glass test: handful in water + shake — water should stay relatively clear. Request datasheet: sand equivalent >75%, fines <5%.
